Funny how actually getting hands on with a product can change ones opinion about it. Now that I own it I've done a full 180 and actually prefer the AD2 interface. I was never impressed with it's interface but figured that since i could drive it with EZD2 then no big deal. The Roland TD-50KVX is by far the best electronic drum set on the market. The only reason I ended up with AD2's fairfax kit was because I read so many good posts about its sound. It's just nice to add a small electronic drum layer to the acoustic kick and snare for some more oomph! On the other hand if AD2 added the features that EZD2 had then I'd just use AD2. Having said that, the new kit in EZD2 (the Modern drumkit) is really quite good and if EZD2 allowed the kind of layering that AD2 allows than I probably wouldn't feel the need to use AD2. What is great about EZD2 is you can use the midi out feature and have it play your Fairfax kit in real time. To me, it is the best sounding kit I have (EZD2, SSD4, BFD eco, Abbey Roads 60s drummer and some ST3 kits). Perhaps not exactly the answer that you are looking for but just an alternative to getting an EZX would be to consider AD2's Fairfax kit.
